Florida: Sundog Books and the Beach

I've been looking forward to our Florida stop since we first decided to go on this cross-country trip. The biggest surprise here was that I had super fans that traveled there to be at my event! (Or maybe my groupies were actually my sister with her family and my awesome neighborhood friends that just happened to also have a trip scheduled at the same time--who really can say?)

The set up at Sundog Books was unique and so much fun! I sat on the porch and talked to the store's patrons. It took me a minute to get the hang of it. At first I was afraid I made too much eye contact. Then I was worried it wasn't enough. Then I overthought whether I should sit down or stand up. But when I finally relaxed and realized I could just enjoy and chat with a bunch of interesting people, it become one of my favorite things. It was like interactive people watching.

Here I am outside of Sundog Books.

I briefly left my post to snap a picture of the inside of the store. Doesn't it look like so much fun? Oh, the hours I could lose in here . . .

We all (kids and adults) loved playing with our friends at the beach. The sand was white, the water was clear, and we were not eaten by sharks.

This swan was my favorite way to ride the waves--though sometimes I had to share with my daughter, Rowyn.

Logan was pumped to catch real-live sea creatures. He was relatively sure this is a sea cucumber per the nature shows he loves. (We through them back in the ocean after we took look.)

We went with our friends to The Hub for dinner. (I'm digging the photo bomber in the background!--The kid, I mean. Not the posterior.)

One of my favorite parts things to do when I'm in a new place is to go on a jog and snap pictures with my phone. I was taking pictures of the beach and a family fishing--when I got closer, I realized the family was my own.

A different angle of the boardwalk. I really should have recognized my own family by the time I was this close.

Rowyn was more successful than her brothers. Notice the bait is bigger than the catch. Also, this fish might be my spirit animal.

We were bummed to leave our friends and family, but we are also looking forward to the next stop. Headed to South Carolina!
