Virginia: Blueberries and Boosting

We stayed in Virginia for a couple days after the signing at bbgb books and got to enjoy the area. Fruit picking has been a long-term "want to" of mine, and with the mild weather and the green landscape, I thought it might be a possibility, so I started asking around. Both Jill (the owner of bbgb books) and Cara (my friend from high school) suggested blueberry picking. As soon as I told the kids this was a possibility, they quickly adopted my goal as their own. We went to Swift Creek Berry Farm & Greenhouse in Moseley, Virginia.

There were so many blueberries. We grabbed the buckets and hiked through the field.

We started on the lower part of the bushes. (They are bushes right? Stand by. . . Yes. Blueberries do, in fact, grow on bushes. Googled it. I'm feeling super city right now.)

It didn't take long to discover that the biggest and sweetest blueberries were at the top. Rowyn got on Colton's shoulders.

And Zach and I thought it was such a good idea, we attempted it too.

It might have been hard for Zach, but I was having fun!
